at play Occupational Therapy is owned by Stacy McFadden, an Occupational Therapist with a passion for helping children gain the confidence and skills needed for the job of living.
She graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1996 with a BEd in physical education and then went on to graduate from Dalhousie University in 2000 with her Occupational Therapy degree.

With a need to move and explore the West Coast of Canada Stacy found herself in Vancouver, BC, to start her career working in Mental Health.  She found a real love for working with people of all ages and abilities while helping them reach for their best.  She has since had the opportunity to work in many settings and with all ages ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.

After living in Vancouver for almost 8 years with her husband, Shawn, they started a family and found themselves drawn to moving back to the Maritimes to surround themselves with family and friends.  Stacy started working in Pediatrics at the Moncton Hospital and has loved every aspect of working with children and their families.  Working with children has always been a strong interest of hers having grown up in a family that adopted several children and having parents that continue to foster children today, working as a summer student as park leader, summer camp counselor, and at the boys and girls club.  It was a natural progression to find herself in the field of Occupational Therapy: wanting to help children learn and grow while building a strong sense of self and having fun.

Stacy does participate in continuing education opportunities such as Sensory Integration conferences, ABC Boom workshop, Level 2 HANDLE approach, Rhythmic Movement TrainingNeuro-Visual Processing Therapy, and more.  She is an active member with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist (CAOT) and the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapist (NBAOT). Stacy is registered to practice in New Brunswick.  You can visit both CAOT and NBAOT to learn more about Occupational Therapy and our standards of practice.

Children learn the skills they need while having fun
When not working with children in the community Stacy can be found with her husband, Shawn, a Grade 8 Teacher, and their two children, Kaia and Bodan.  As a family they have a real passion for nature and the outdoors and can be found camping afar or exploring in their own backyard.  They love gathering with friends and family.  Food and music are always a popular choice with the McFadden's as well. Always looking for simple pleasures and having fun!
